Installation

Assembly, Ceiling, Floor, and Initial Checks

Questions before installing an X-POLE at home, studio, or stage.

What tools do I need to install an X-POLE?
X-POLE kits include the necessary hex keys. Additionally, it is advisable to have a tape measure and a spirit level to measure the exact height and ensure the pole is perfectly vertical.
How long does it take to assemble an X-POLE?
If you already know your ceiling height and the extension you need, assembly can be quick. The first installation usually takes longer because you need to read the manual, identify parts, check the ceiling, and adjust carefully.
What type of ceiling can I install an X-POLE on with pressure mounting?
It must be installed on a solid ceiling or directly under a sturdy beam/structure. We do not recommend installing on false ceilings, plasterboard without structural support, or surfaces that do not guarantee load-bearing capacity and stability.
If you don't know where the beam is, do not install "by eye." Use a stud finder, listen for a change in sound when tapping gently, or consult a professional.
Can I use an X-POLE on a slanted ceiling?
Yes, but not with standard mounting. For slanted, vaulted, or cathedral ceilings, a compatible slanted/vaulted ceiling mount must be used. SPORT is not the suitable option for this case.
Can the pole leave marks on the ceiling or floor?
X-POLE poles have soft silicone areas on the base and dome to improve grip and protect surfaces. However, if the surface is delicate, dirty, the pole is not centered, or incorrect pressure is applied, marks may appear.
Can I install an X-POLE on carpet?
Yes, but carpet compresses under pressure. After initial installation, check the pole several times, as it may need readjustment once the carpet settles.
What types of floors can it be used on?
It can be used on many common floor types: wood, tile, carpet, and similar surfaces. If the floor flexes, is uneven, or is highly polished/slippery, check stability with extra care.
How much space do I need around the pole?
Ideally, you should have enough space to extend a leg or arm without hitting walls, furniture, mirrors, or radiators. If you have limited space, start with basic movements and avoid wide figures.
How do I check that the pole is properly installed before using it?
Check three points: dome centered under a sturdy structure, pole perfectly vertical, and sufficient pressure. Perform a gentle test before strong training. If you notice movement, strange noises, or irregular spinning, do not use it until you check.
Measurements and Extensions

Ceiling Height, Extensions, and Correct Configuration

One of the most frequent errors is buying or assembling with an incorrectly taken ceiling measurement.

How do I measure floor-to-ceiling height?
Measure from the floor to the ceiling at the exact point where the pole will be placed. Do not measure in another area of the room, as small differences can change the necessary extension.
How do I know what extension I need?
Use the height chart for the exact model: XPERT, XPERT Pro, SPORT, X-STAGE, X-STAGE Lite, or X-STAGE Pro. At VIVE POLE, you can send us your measurement, and we will confirm the configuration before you buy.
Is it better to use one long extension or several small ones?
Whenever possible, it is best to minimize the number of extensions and joints. One extension of appropriate length is usually better than combining several unnecessary small pieces.
What if my measurement is exactly between two configurations?
Don't improvise. Check the official model chart and consult us before assembly. Forcing an incorrect configuration can lead to excessive pressure, lack of pressure, irregular spinning, or damage to parts.
The 125 mm extension is too short and the 250 mm one is too long?
This is a common question. You should not compensate with excessive pressure or by leaving the pole poorly adjusted. You need to check the height chart, the model, and the correct combination of extensions.
Can I cut a pole or extension?
We do not recommend cutting tubes or modifying X-POLE parts. Modifications can affect safety, compatibility, and warranty.
How much do the main X-POLE products weigh?
As an approximate reference: XPERT and XPERT Pro are around 21 kg, SPORT about 18.5 kg, X-FLY about 18 kg, LyraPole about 15 kg, A-FRAME about 35 kg, X-STAGE Lite about 75 kg, and X-STAGE around 100 kg.
What size are the dome and base?
Approximate measurements: SPORT uses an upper plate and base of approx. 230 mm; XPERT NX uses an upper dome of approx. 380 mm and a 120 mm micro-base; XPERT NXN and XPERT Pro use a more compact upper dome/base of approx. 280 mm and a 120 mm micro-base/base.
Models

XPERT, XPERT Pro, SPORT, Studio, and Build-A-Pole

Important differences before choosing a pole.

What is the difference between SPORT and XPERT?
SPORT is a more basic pole and does not have a spinning mode. XPERT works in static and spinning modes, which is why it is the most common option for home pole dance training with more possibilities.
Can I convert a SPORT into an XPERT?
No. SPORT and XPERT are different products and are not converted from one model to another through an upgrade.
What is the difference between XPERT and XPERT Pro?
XPERT allows working in static and spinning modes using locking screws. XPERT Pro incorporates the X-LOCK system, which facilitates faster switching between static and spinning modes.
What is X-LOCK?
X-LOCK is X-POLE's quick-change system for switching from static to spinning on compatible models, such as XPERT Pro and X-STAGE Pro. However, the pole must be correctly installed and checked.
Can I use a home pole in a studio?
For commercial use, classes, or intensive use, professional solutions should be considered. Home poles are detachable and practical, but a studio requires proper inspection, installation, and configuration for frequent use.
What is a competition or dual-lined pole?
It is a configuration designed for commercial or studio use, with an inner core that provides more rigidity at higher heights. It is used in professional installations where greater structural resistance is sought.
Are X-POLE poles portable?
Models such as SPORT, XPERT, XPERT Pro, X-STAGE, X-STAGE Lite, and X-STAGE Pro are portable/detachable by design. This does not mean they should not be checked: each assembly must be done correctly.
Finishes and grip

Chrome, stainless steel, brass, Titanium Gold, powder coated, and silicone

Grip depends on the finish, skin, sweat, climate, and type of use.

Which X-POLE finish is best for me?
There is no perfect finish for everyone. Chrome and stainless steel are balanced options. Brass, Titanium Gold, powder coated, and silicone offer more grip for specific profiles but have different sensations.
What is the difference between chrome and stainless steel?
Chrome is the classic finish in the industry. Stainless steel is strong, durable, and a common choice for studios or people who prefer to avoid chrome finishes.
Does brass grip more?
Brass usually offers very good grip, especially in warm climates or for people looking for more grip. It requires more aesthetic care because it can darken or mark with use.
What is Titanium Gold?
It is a treated finish designed to offer a superior grip sensation to standard chrome. It can be a good option if you want more grip without moving to powder coated or silicone.
Powder coated or silicone?
Powder coated offers high grip with a coated feel. Silicone offers maximum grip and allows training with more clothing, but the sensation is very different from a metal pole. The silicone cannot be removed from the pole.
Why do I slip even if the pole is new?
It can be due to the finish, sweat, body cream, temperature, cleaning, or lack of adaptation. Wash your hands, clean the pole correctly, and avoid creams or oils before training. It is also normal for a new pole to need a short period of use and cleaning.
Why do I grip well in the studio but slip at home?
The finish, room temperature, humidity, pole cleanliness, tube usage level, and even your own warm-up can change. New and little-used poles usually feel more slippery than a well-used studio pole.
Maintenance

Cleaning and care according to finish

Incorrect cleaning can worsen grip or damage the finish.

How do you clean an X-POLE pole?
Depends on the finish:
  • Chrome, Titanium Gold, and stainless steel: soft cloth and appropriate cleaner. Avoid harsh products.
  • Brass: clean, dry microfiber cloth. To restore shine, use a specific brass guide.
  • Powder coated: damp sponge and mild household detergent; then rinse with clean water.
  • Silicone: clean cloth with mild soapy water.
Can I use alcohol to clean?
Alcohol is used in small amounts on some finishes, but it is not a universal solution for all coatings. If you are unsure, check the specific finish manual or consult us.
How do I care for a brass pole?
Clean with a dry microfiber cloth after use. If you want to polish it or restore shine, use a specific brass guide and avoid abrasive products not recommended.
Can the silicone be removed from a silicone pole?
No. The silicone is adhered to the pole and is not designed to be removed. If it is damaged, consult us before manipulating it.
Should I check screws and joints?
Yes. If you assemble and disassemble the pole, use it often, or share it with others, it is advisable to periodically check screws, X-JOINT, base, dome, and pressure.
How long can an X-POLE pole last?
It depends on use, maintenance, assembly, and training frequency. A well-maintained pole can last for years, but wear parts, screws, silicones, or joints may need inspection or replacement over time.
What do I do if the silicone on the base or dome peels off?
Do not use the pole if the support area is damaged or peeled off. That silicone helps with grip and protection. The correct thing to do is identify the part and replace it if necessary.
Safety

Safe use of poles, stages, and aerial equipment

Basic recommendations before training with X-POLE products.

Can anyone do pole fitness?
Pole fitness is a demanding physical activity. Always warm up, start with movements appropriate for your level, and learn with a qualified person if you are a beginner.
What should I not wear when using a pole or aerial equipment?
Remove jewelry, watches, rings, and piercings. They can scratch the finish, get caught, or cause injuries.
How many people can use an X-POLE at once?
As a reference, for many X-POLE products, a maximum of two people at a time is indicated. However, it depends on the technical level, installation, model, and type of movement.
Can I practice aerial at home?
Only if the installation, anchor point, and equipment are adequate. In aerial, the critical thing is not just the apparatus, but the structure where it is fixed. If in doubt, consult a professional.
What size hoop or lyra should I choose?
A practical guide is to sit up straight, measure from your seat to the top of your head, and add about 5 cm. Then, choose the hoop closest to that measurement.
Can I do advanced tricks right after setting up the pole?
It is not ideal. First, check stability, verticality, and pressure with basic movements. If everything is correct, gradually increase the intensity.
Frequent problems

Noises, irregular spinning, slipping pole, stuck X-JOINT, and damaged screws

Common problems that should be checked without forcing parts.

My X-POLE makes noise in spinning mode, is that normal?
A small occasional sound may appear due to adjustment, pressure, or friction, but there should be no metallic banging, loud creaks, constant vibration, or continuous rubbing. If the noise only appears in spinning mode, check verticality, pressure, dome, base, and spinning system before training hard.
My XPERT or XPERT Pro makes noise when spinning
In XPERT and XPERT Pro, spinning noise usually comes from excessive pressure, a slightly uneven pole, a poorly centered dome/base, improperly adjusted static/spinning screws, a poorly seated X-LOCK, or dirt in the bearing area. If the spin is not smooth or you feel rubbing, stop and check the installation.
My Competition / COMP / Studio pole makes noise when spinning
In Competition, Studio, or commercial use poles, noise can come from bearings, upper or lower fixation, poorly seated parts, excessive pressure, lack of alignment, or wear due to intensive use. In studios, periodic inspection is advisable, especially if several people use the pole daily.
If the noise increases over time, appears suddenly, or is accompanied by looseness, do not treat it as normal. It is better to check before continuing to use the pole.
A metallic "click" sounds when spinning
A metallic click can indicate that a joint, X-JOINT, screw, internal part, or locking system is not fully seated. Check all screws, joints, static/spinning lock, and that there is no play. Do not train dynamics if the click repeats.
It sounds like continuous rubbing or squeaking in spinning mode
Continuous rubbing usually points to excessive pressure, lack of verticality, a poorly centered dome/base, dirt, or friction in the spinning system. Loosen and readjust following the manual, clean the support areas, and check that the pole is not forced against the ceiling or floor.
Can I lubricate the pole if it makes noise?
It is not advisable to lubricate blindly. First, you need to identify where the noise is coming from. Lubricating the wrong area can dirty the tube, worsen grip, affect internal parts, or attract dirt. If you don't know where the sound is coming from, send us a short video and photos of the installation.
My XPERT / XPERT Pro spins irregularly, what could be happening?
The most common is that the dome is not centered under the beam or that the pole is not completely vertical. Check the position of the dome, base, and use a spirit level. If the dome pushes more on one side, the spin may not be uniform.
My X-POLE slips or moves on the ceiling
This can be due to lack of pressure, an uneven ceiling, a spot without a beam, a dirty surface, compressed carpet, or a poorly leveled pole. Find a solid area, clean the base and dome, check verticality, and adjust pressure following the manual.
The pole is too tight and does not spin well
Excessive pressure can generate hard spinning, friction, noise, or irregular behavior. Loosen and readjust following the manual. The pole should be firm, but not forced to the point of deforming parts or blocking the mechanism.
My X-JOINT is stuck
Make sure the X-JOINT is fully retracted. Then you can carefully insert a broomstick or similar item through the tube to help pull it out. Do not hit with metal tools or force if you feel it deforming.
The X-JOINT has rotated inside the tube and I can't see the screw
This is a known problem: the X-JOINT can rotate inside the tube, making the screw inaccessible. Do not continue turning blindly. Use the technical video of the locked X-JOINT, and if you are not clear, consult us before forcing it.
I have rounded a screw
You can try to place a piece of elastic rubber between the screw and the hex key to gain grip. If it doesn't come out, don't continue to wear down the head: it may be better to replace the screw or check the part.
Always use the correct metric tools. An incorrect wrench can strip the screw head and make disassembly much more difficult.
The lower adjuster is stuck
This can happen if screws have been tightened on the adjuster thread or if the part has been forced. Do not continue tightening. Take photos of the area and consult us before damaging the thread.
The base of my XPERT is stuck
This can happen if the static/spinning screws have been tightened in the wrong area of the base. Do not force the base. Contact support indicating the model, version, and photos.
The pole makes noise or "creaks" when used
This can be due to incorrect pressure, a poorly seated joint, loose screws, a dirty spinning system, excessive pressure, or an uneven surface. Stop training, disassemble if necessary, and check the manual, X-JOINT, base, dome, verticality, and pressure.
The pole seems to move only during some tricks
Some lateral loads show failures that are not apparent when pushing gently. Check pressure, ceiling, floor, leveling, and support point. Do not train dynamics if you notice movement.
My pole is stuck in spinning mode
First, check that the screws or locking system are in the correct position and that no screws are stripped. If a screw is damaged or the system does not release, do not force it: it may require extraction or replacement.
The pole lowers or loses pressure over time
Check if the carpet has compressed, if the dome is not under a beam, if the ceiling gives way, or if the pole was not vertical. After the first uses, it may be normal to check tension, but it should not move during training.
Compatibility

X-JOINT, extensions, spare parts, and generations

Important compatibilities before buying parts or reusing old poles.

What is an X-JOINT?
It is an expandable internal joint that locks the tubes together so they do not separate. It must be correctly retracted before insertion and correctly expanded when fixed.
Where are the X-JOINTs in the kit?
They usually come placed inside the extensions or tubes of the kit. Check the contents before thinking a part is missing.
Which X-JOINTs usually come in the kits?
Kits usually include 200 mm and 180 mm X-JOINTs. In some models or diameters, the exact configuration may vary.
How do I know if my X-JOINT is pre- or post-2014?
Older X-JOINTs usually have a circular pin in the center. Later ones usually have an oval or pill-shaped pin. This identification is very helpful when looking for spare parts.
How do I identify the generation of my XPERT or SPORT?
Check the shape of the slot inside pole A. If it is semicircular, it usually corresponds to an older version; if it is a half-oval, it usually corresponds to a later version.
Can I use new extensions with an old pole?
In some cases, yes, using the correct adapter or X-JOINT. Before buying extensions for an old pole, confirm the generation, diameter, and compatibility.
Are there spare parts for old threaded XP poles?
Old threaded poles or discontinued systems may not have all spare parts available. If you have an old pole, send us photos to identify it before purchasing parts.
What screws does each model use?
It changes depending on the model and generation. X-STAGE, XPERT, XPERT Pro and older models may use different sizes. It is best to identify the exact model and part before ordering screws.
Stage and aerial

X-STAGE, X-STAGE Lite, X-STAGE Pro, A-FRAME, X-FLY and LyraPole

Frequent questions about stages, self-supporting structures and aerial equipment.

Can I use my SPORT, XPERT or XPERT Pro with an X-STAGE?
No. SPORT, XPERT and XPERT Pro are not compatible with the X-STAGE bearing unit.
Can I use an X-STAGE pole without the base?
No. The X-STAGE pole needs its base and corresponding bearing system to function correctly.
Can I adjust the height of an X-STAGE?
It can be made lower using compatible extensions. Do not improvise with parts that do not correspond to the model. If you have a low ceiling, check the configuration before buying.
What is the difference between X-STAGE and X-STAGE Lite?
X-STAGE is heavier and more robust. X-STAGE Lite is lighter and more practical for frequent transport. The choice depends on the use, mobility, desired stability and type of training.
What sand do I use for the A-FRAME sandbags?
For ballast bags, clean sand such as playground/sandbox sand is recommended. Do not use wet, uneven materials or materials that could tear the bag.
Can I use a trapeze with an A-FRAME?
For static and controlled use, it may be possible. For dynamic movements, drops, strong swings or complex loads, always consult a qualified professional.
Can I make the A-FRAME wider?
There is an extended top bar for the A-FRAME. Compatible parts must be used and correct assembly respected.
What size hoop or lyra should I choose?
A practical guide is to sit up straight, measure from the seat to the top of your head and add about 5 cm. Then, choose the hoop closest to that measurement.
