The X-POLE X-JOINT is an expanding metal joint that is installed inside the tubes to connect two sections of the pole.
By tightening its screws, the X-JOINT expands within both tubes, fixing them together and helping to maintain a strong, stable, aligned, and smooth-to-the-touch connection.
It is used in numerous X-POLE bottom-loading models after 2014, including compatible configurations of SPORT, XPERT, XPERT PRO, COMP, X-STAGE and X-STAGE Lite.
The correct length of a joint does not mean it is compatible with the internal diameter of your pole.
How does an X-JOINT work?
It is inserted inside the tubes
Approximately half of the joint is housed in each of the two sections to be connected.
It opens by tightening the screws
The expansion screws cause the joint to press against the inside of the tubes and lock them together.
Keeps tubes aligned
Correct installation provides continuity between the parts and prevents the sections from separating during use.
Available lengths
The required measurement depends on the tubes or extensions you are joining.
Short joint
Commonly used with the 125 mm extension in compatible 45 mm poles.
It has a specific orientation and must be installed following the arrow engraved on the part.
Standard joint
It is one of the most used measurements for joining main tubes and certain extensions.
It may also correspond to short extensions on 40 mm poles or with certain silicone finishes.
Long joint
Used in certain 40 mm poles, finishes with smaller internal diameter and professional or COMP configurations.
It should not be chosen because it is "stronger," but because it corresponds to the specific pole configuration.
The outer diameter of the pole does not always determine the joint
You must select the X-JOINT compatible with the actual inner diameter of the tubes.
In most conventional finishes, the variant matches the nominal diameter of the pole: 40, 45 or 50 mm.
However, certain 45 mm silicone poles have a smaller internal diameter due to the thickness of the coating and use the X-JOINT variant corresponding to 40 mm.
If your pole is silicone or you cannot identify the exact version, consult VIVE POLE before purchasing.

How do I know if my pole uses an X-JOINT?
X-POLE bottom-loading models, with the adjuster located at the bottom of the pole, usually use X-JOINTs to connect their tubes.
Older poles with a top adjuster may use threaded extensions and a different system.
That your pole is an X-POLE brand does not guarantee that a modern joint is compatible. If you do not know the year or model, send us photographs of:
- the base and adjuster;
- the ends of the tubes;
- the current joint;
- the product label or reference.
Poles before 2014
Some older X-POLE poles may require specific adapter joints to combine old tubes with extensions after 2014.
These adapter joints are not necessarily the same as standard X-JOINTs in the current range.
We do not recommend purchasing a joint based solely on the approximate year of the pole. Contact VIVE POLE to check exact compatibility.
X-JOINT and X-POLE extensions
Extensions go on top
In compatible home poles, extensions are installed at the top of the assembly, not next to the base.
From longest to shortest
When using multiple extensions, they should be placed following the order indicated by the height chart and the model manual.
Minimize the number of joints
Whenever possible, use one long extension instead of two equivalent short extensions.
Indicative relationship between extension and X-JOINT
The exact table depends on the model, diameter, finish and generation of the pole.
Caution with the 100 mm extension
The 100 mm X-POLE extension belongs to specific SPORT configurations and should not be automatically used with XPERT or XPERT PRO.
It may require a specific short joint depending on the diameter and generation of the pole.
Do not buy this combination without having previously confirmed the exact model.
Do I need to buy an additional joint?
Many complete X-POLE kits include several standard joints to connect the main tubes and included extensions.
However, the supplied measurements depend on the model, diameter, finish, and version of the kit.
You may need an additional X-JOINT when:
- you add an optional extension;
- you have lost a joint;
- the original joint is damaged;
- you change the height configuration;
- you combine compatible parts from different generations.
Always check the joints you already have before placing your order.
Basic X-JOINT installation
Identify the parts
Confirm the diameter, joint length, and the tubes you are connecting.
Contract the joint
Loosen only the expansion screws until the X-JOINT can be correctly inserted.
Insert the first half
Place the joint inside the first tube, respecting the center line and any orientation arrow.
Join the second tube
Insert the second section until both tubes are aligned and fully joined.
Expand gradually
Tighten the screws progressively and alternately to keep the joint centered.
Check the joint
Verify that there is no separation, movement, unevenness, or perceptible edge between the tubes.
Orientation of the 180 mm joint
The 180 mm X-JOINT has an asymmetrical geometry: one part is shorter than the other.
When used in the configuration indicated by X-POLE, the arrow engraved on the joint must be oriented upwards, towards the ceiling.
Do not ignore the arrow or install the joint upside down.
Mistakes to avoid
Choosing only by outer diameter
This causes particularly frequent errors with silicone-coated poles.
Using an incorrect length
A joint that is too long or too short may not seat correctly within the tubes.
Not centering the joint
The center mark should be located at the junction of both sections.
Tightening only one screw to the maximum
Screws should be tightened progressively and alternately.
Leaving a gap between tubes
The two sections must be fully aligned before expanding the joint.
Using a damaged joint
Do not use deformed, blocked, cracked parts, or those with damaged screws.
Review and maintenance
Periodically check that the expansion screws are correctly tightened and that the tubes show no separation or movement.
When disassembling the pole, fully contract the joint before attempting to remove it. Do not hit the tubes or force the X-JOINT with inappropriate tools.
Keep the part clean and dry. Do not apply oils, greases, or products that may affect the internal grip unless expressly indicated by the manufacturer.

Does my complete pole already include joints?
Typically, complete kits include the necessary joints for their standard configuration, but the quantities and measurements depend on the model and variant.
Does it work for an XPERT?
Yes, as long as it's a compatible generation and you select the correct length and diameter.
Does it work for an XPERT PRO?
Yes. The XPERT PRO uses X-JOINTS, but the necessary measurement depends on the location and diameter of the pole.
Does it work for X-STAGE or X-STAGE Lite?
Yes, in compatible configurations. You must first identify the version, diameter, and section you want to join.
Does it work for poles older than 2014?
Some older poles require a specific adapter joint. Do not buy a standard joint without confirming the generation.
Does it work for poles with threaded extensions?
No. Older poles with threaded extensions use a different connection system.
How do I know if my pole is bottom-loading?

Which way should the arrow point?

Can I install the joint upside down?
No. You must respect the orientation, position, and configuration specified in the pole's manual.
How is it tightened?
With the corresponding hex key, progressively alternating the expansion screws.
Should I tighten one screw completely before the other?
No. They must be tightened gradually and alternately so that the joint expands evenly.
Should the center line be visible?
The center mark should align with the point where the two tubes meet.
Can there be a gap between the tubes?
No. The tubes must be completely joined and aligned before expanding the joint.
Why do I feel an edge when I run my hand over it?
This could indicate that the tubes are not completely joined, that the joint is not centered, or that there is an incompatibility between the parts.
Can I use a joint from another brand?
We do not recommend combining parts not specifically designed for the corresponding X-POLE system.
Can I reuse an X-JOINT?
Yes, as long as it is in good condition, contracts and expands correctly, and remains compatible with the configuration.
When should I replace it?
When it shows deformation, cracks, damaged screws, jamming, abnormal wear, or fails to hold the tubes together correctly.
Can I lubricate it?
Do not apply oils or greases without express instructions from the manufacturer, as they could affect the internal grip.
Why can't I remove it?
The joint may not be fully contracted. Loosen the correct screws progressively without forcing or hitting the tube.
Can I use two short extensions instead of one long one?
A valid configuration may exist, but X-POLE recommends minimizing the number of extensions and joints whenever possible.
Where are the extensions placed?
On compatible home poles, they are placed at the top, following the model's specific height chart.
Do I need to measure the ceiling to buy an X-JOINT?
